"Imagine a place...that celebrates who we are..."
On Wednesday July 18th our Shul, Chabad of Mineola, was totaling flooded out by freak torrential rainstorms. The nearly 5' of water destroyed a Sefer Torah Scroll, the dairy and meat kitchens, three offices, Beth Midrash / Library, 4000 Jewish books, a complete Ballroom, two boilers and Shul records.
We are determined to rebuild. We are turning this tragedy into a triumph. This will not dampen our spirits, we will rebuild even bigger and better than before.
We appreciate the generations before us, who built this Synagogue; we now have been given the greatest opportunity to redouble our efforts to make our Shul even more welcoming and a brighter beacon of light for all of us.
To accomplish our expanded goals to help the widest community, the restoration and renovation is to include the opening of the Chabad Center for the Arts, the first in the USA.
The Chabad Center for the Arts is a unique center, rich in Jewish experience with sophisticated and thought-provoking programming.
The name The Chabad Center for the Arts is no coincident. The Committee chose it to capture the mission of this new project.
Today, the attention of people of all ages, is being easily diverted by a relentless steam of multimedia attractions, each more spectacular than the last.
So it is time to celebrate traditional values in non-traditional ways...To reach out through the performing arts - in the language we all understand and respond to best - the language of music & media.
It is time for the Chabad Center for the Arts. The creation of this saavy center for cultural programming.
Please help us by tuning into our 15th Chanukah Telethon on Sunday Dec 9th on WLNY TV 55 (Channel 10) 7pm-11pm.
