Giving in Hard Times . This is an Emergency Appeal!
'When the Going Gets Tough the Tough Get Going'
A big, burly man visited the rabbi's home and asked to see the Rebbetzin, the rabbi's wife, a person well known for her numerous charitable deeds. "Rebbetzin," he said in a broken voice, "I wish to draw your attention to the terrible plight of a poor family in this district. The father is dead, the mother is too ill to work, and the nine children are starving. They are about to be turned into the cold, empty streets unless someone pays their rent, which amounts to $6000."
"How terrible!" exclaimed the Rabbi's wife. "May I ask who you are?" The sympathetic visitor applied his handkerchief to his eyes. "I'm the landlord," he sobbed.
This is not a joke.
We are very frustrated because of the difficulty we face financially to do our job. Please accept this personal appeal to help us during these difficult times. In these tough times we are counting on your help more than ever. Its now, when people are losing their jobs. when unpaid mortgages are leading to foreclosures. when new stresses are triggering drug and alcohol abuse now is the time when your act of caring is so important and when each good deed can make such a difference.
